ABSTRACT

A deep knowledge of the anatomy is fundamental for anyone who wants to practice surgery.
This full immersion course has the aim to guide the odontologist to an effective surgery through an anatomic dissection of fresh cadavers, by examining the structures of the oral cavity which are mainly concerned in the daily surgical practice and farther anatomic structures in order to better study the topographic anatomy and to comprehend the possible surgical risks in the case of lesions of those structures.
Moreover, implantology surgeries on cadaver will be performed starting from a basic implantology to an advanced one and analysing also bone regeneration techniques.

Participants:
– will obtain a better anatomic perspective.
– will learn anatomical bases to perform safe surgeries.
– will learn how to explain to patients, in the most appropriate manner, the costs and the biological benefits of the different kind of treatments learned.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2.00 p.m.- 6.00 p.m.
THEORETICAL PART:
– Surgical anatomy of the oral cavity, surgical risks;
– Anatomic dissection of the upper jaw;
– Anatomic dissection of the jaw;
– Placement of immediate post-extraction implants;
– Augmentation of horizontal and vertical bone volume.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 9.00 a.m.-6.00 p.m.
PRACTICAL PART ON FRESH CADAVER, SURGICAL TECHNIQUES:
– Upper jaw anatomic dissection: nasopalatine canal; greater palatine foramen; buccal fat pad; maxillary sinus; piriform nasal aperture; infraorbital foramen; infraorbital nerve; parotid duct; temporomandibular joints (TMJ).
– Jaw anatomic dissection: mental foramen; mental neve; lingual nerve; facial artery; genioglossus; tongue section and muscles.
– Maxillary sinus augmentation and piezosurgery with biomaterial graft; split-crest (with piezo), application of implants and immediate post-extractive implants, vertical and horizontal bone augmentation, edges and sutures.

In 1994 he graduated in Dentistry at the Sapienza University of Rome. Already in charge of the Otorhinolaryngology clinic for diseases of the oral cavity, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the oral cavity, Hospital S. Giovanni Calibita, Fatebenefratelli Isola Tiberina, Roma. From 1995 to 2006 he had been attending the Dentist Oral Surgery ward at the Hospital Fatebenefratelli Isola Tiberina, Roma.
Since 1995 he has been owner of Dental Practice in Rome. Already consultant in surgery and in the Otorhinolaryngology ward for study, research, prevention and diagnosis of precancerous lesions and cancers of the oral cavity at the Hospital Fatebenefratelli Isola Tiberina, Roma.
