ITALIAN COURSE

According to various articles in the international literature, the first and second molars (upper and lower) are the first teeth to be extracted. Once the extraction has been performed, the alveolar bone undergoes a series of changes leading to a reduction in its volume, which can range from 30 to 50% in the first six months following extraction. With standard implant diameters and morphologies, it is not possible to perform immediate post-extraction implant placement because the implant diameter is significantly smaller than that of the alveolar socket, and apical bone engagement is often not achievable due to the presence of the NAI or the maxillary sinus.

During the course, we will look at large-diameter implants, which allow the implant to be placed immediately after extraction, without the need for a second procedure months later, thereby preserving the patient’s alveolar structure, accelerating healing and optimising the outcome.

Dr Antonio Olivo
Specialist in Maxillofacial Surgery. Scientific Director of the Medical Center Padova clinic, he specialises in maxillofacial surgery and has always been involved in the surgical and prosthetic aspects of oral rehabilitation.
He has attended numerous courses in Italy and abroad and boasts one of the most extensive experiences in Italy with zygomatic implants. On several occasions, he has spoken at international conferences. He is an active certified member of the European Society of Cosmetic Dentistry and an ICD Fellow. For many years, he has collaborated clinically and as a lecturer at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
